Subject:I totally forgot I even have this thing...
Security:Public

So yeah, it's only been like.. oh.. two years since I made my last post on this thing. I win so hard O_o.

Anyway, a summary of what's been going on in my life for the past two years. Well, I moved onto main campus, and I've been taking classes here. I'm slated to graduate this fall (yes, a semester late). Last summer I went to Japan for study abroad, and it was totally awesome =O Speaking of which, a friend who was the language partner of one of my classmates is coming from Japan to visit in a couple of weeks, which makes me so happy X3 I can't wait to show her around Philly 'n' stuff. She's been to the U.S. before, but it was on the west coast, California I believe.

So it's probably obvious, but since I mentioned taking language classes in like... my last post, I should mention I successfully took up Japanese =D This semester I'm taking JAPN209, which involves improving one's speaking skills and use of 敬語 (read けいご、or "keigo", i.e. polite language). Our teacher has set up a special arrangement for those of us who went to Japan over the summer, and I luffs it somethin' awful. It's much more satisfying to have a study group of 4 people and the teacher than being in a group of 2 dozen and getting to speak maybe twice per class XP.

Reading back in my own posts, I realize that one of my most recent ones (term used loosely) discussed my relationship with a dude. Well, long story short, it turned out he liked me too, actually. Shortly after we realized this mutual attraction, however, he moved to Tennessee. It actually doesn't bother me too much. I talk to him via IM fairly frequently, and really the important thing to me was the self-vindication of knowing that a.) someone I really liked could like me back, and b.)I could accept it and feel good about myself.

Hmm.. what else? Not much else of note that I can think of has happened. My life is pretty dull, but I like the low-maintenance, low-key lifestyle. My only issue is that I tend to err on the side of "I don't feel like hanging out with people outside of class"-ness. This can make some things a bit difficult, as it's not motivated by dislike of the people in question as much as by pure laziness. But yet, I feel like the people I turn down think I actively dislike *them*, which is totally not the case. Oh well, c'est la vie. Or as the Japanese might say, "しょうがないね."

School has started up again XP And I got all the classes I asked for, which means 6 of 'em... That in turn means I'm gonna be in classes from 9 to at least 2:30 Mon - Thursday. Ick. I think I'm definitely going to try taking a language at main campus over winter session, 'cuz the Spanish available here... well.. is Spanish. Not that I have anything against Spanish, but I took French in highschool, and I'd kinda like to keep going with that. Ya know, if I can't get Japanese X3. Unfortunately, if I do do winter session, it'll mean I have to be home Mon - Friday afternoon at least, probably it'll be a morning thing. That in turn limits the amount of time I'll have to go laze about up in Philly with Mindi X< Ah well, I'll still get to run up asap on Friday..

It's 7:35 am and I wanna go back to bed like whoa XP

Whenever I come back after spending a weekend with Mindi, I sort of crash emotion-wise. There are a lot of stressors at home that are relieved when I go to Philly, and so when I get back, they start beating down on me again.

One thing that inevitably consumes me is this predicament I'm in with this person I like... Part of me feels ridiculous, because while I've been on this mental roller-coaster ride of despairing peppered with feeling good about it, this person's probably been totally unaware that I was having any such feelings at all.

What makes it worse is that I feel like I may be getting to the point where I accept that a relationship of the sort I'd like is impossible. Heck, I feel like a decent camaraderie is impossible. I'm just so... conservative with them. I don't crack jokes or say random things or make wierd faces like I regularly do. I feel like maybe if I could just loosen up, then maybe something beyond aquaintance-status could blossom. I'm too afraid to try though, and I can't work around it.

Theoretically, it would help to extract them and myself from the "group" situation, but there's no real way to do that without being overly contrived. That and it seems to me that this person just doesn't enjoy my company as much as... well... other peoples'. Other funnier, more entertaining, more enjoyable peoples'.

There's a part of me that rebels against becoming "complacent" (for lack of a better term) with the current situation, because it thinks I haven't really tried at all. What's more, that's in all likelyhood true.

On the other hand, all the mental anguish I've been going through may very well have irrevocably tainted my feelings for them.... and that saddens me to no end. The fact that that taint would be entirely my own fault doesn't help any...

I think I may be emotionally retarded or something at this point.

Otakon was fun stuff *_*

We (mindi and I) had been purposely holding off on getting new anime so that we could feel justified in going crazy in the dealer's head. ....... . Make that dealer's ROOM (I'm listening to American McGee's Alice bg music, and the part where the red queen goes "Off..with..her..head.." just came on, lol)

We managed to finish both Utena and Saber Marionette J, and find the Slayers Try and Move DVD box sets. that in addition to new purses, 75$ worth of drawing books, and 50$ worth of keychains made the venture quite successful, I'd say =3

I also got an empty envelope delivered to me today from my school. It was addressed weird too, using my middle name instead of my first name.. O.o??

I need to get more Utena Music....

Ok, I may be going crazy.

I've always been told that I have pretty thick hair, but recently (like in the last few months), I've started actually feeling my hair

....it feels thin to me

As in, seriously thin.

Mindi's hair seems so much thicker and heavier and weighty, whereas mine feels thin and nebulous, like it has no substance.

When I measure the diameter of my pony tail, it's pathetic-looking to me.

Considering what I've been told, I think I may very well be going insane.

So this weekend, Mindi and I experimented with her stove X3

The first time Nate was coming over, so we made dinner. It was fun stuff, albeit a tad messy ^^; We made penne pasta with this AWESOME tomato sauce with garlic and peppers, and diced up some buffalo meat and put that in too....... it smelled divine, and tasted good too *_*

Next morning (I use the term loosely), we made breakfast. First it was just gonna be scrambled eggs with some potatoes, but then we added some ham. After that course, I decided to venture out on my own into the territory of making-toast-without-a-toaster land. This basically consisted of melting butter in the pan, slapping bread down on it, and waiting until that side was crispy and then pulling it off

....it's freaking GOOD...mmmmmmmm.....

I just got back from another practice driving session. It went pretty well; I'm getting the hang of parking headfirst and ending up with the wheels straight, which makes pulling out much easier ^.^

So last night my dad and I headed down to Philly pretty late at night, taking pots and pans, an AC unit, and Cokie over to Mindi's appartment. Poor Cokie, he spent the first hour or so hiding under her bed. After a while he came out though, and by the time we'd finished and eaten some and were ready to leave, he was lounging on top of the bed and regaining his usual smoochery. We'd bought him some catnip, hoping it'd help calm him, but thus far he's shown next to no interest in it. I've never seen a cat so disinterested in catnip O_o

Apparently Mindi has also discovered that her stove won't function. What with that and her tub initially refusing to drain, that studio seems rife with hidden pitfalls.

Everytime I find a music artist who's bilingual it makes me sad. I wanna be biligual! For real, that is, not just knowing a smattering of french and japanese...

Subject:We apologize for that two and 1/2 year commercial break.... Now back to our scheduled programming...

Mood: distressed

So uhh.... yeah, a whole crapload has happened since the last time I posted in this thing. Lessee.... 12th grade year of highschool, senior research paper, graduation (totally skipped that one), first year of college (flew by, honestly) and now I am learning to drive (belated). Not to mention lots of little things.

In the social department: a very unsuccessful pseudo-relationship with a guy due entirely to my own neuroses and hesitations, and now a many-month-long-still-going-strong "crush"(for lack of a better term) on...someone. Minzi knows well the anxiety that's been causing me, and there's no light at the end of the tunnel as of this report.

Speaking of anxiety, I've also been generating a healthy crapload of it over the driving thing. Mostly my worries are that I'll hurt someone else's car. People upset over their cars are absolutely TERRIFYING to me. I'll give an example. On my second day of trying to learn to drive, my mother asked me to try and park, so I gave it a shot...... and hit two cars in the process. I was mortified, horrified, terrified, and every other "'ied" you can think of. Of course I started to cry. I couldn't bring myself to get out of the car or look at anybody. My mom took care of the legal stuff involved. The lady whose car I hit more seriously tried to tell me it was okay, but that I should "..pull all the way around and then turn, don't cut through".... I don't think she was aware that I was attempting to park, not that I had the will to correct her.

So yeah, that was LOTS of fun....ugh. On a happier note, Otakon is coming up soon! Yeys! And August also heralds Art's imminent arrival, if he has anything to say about it. He's been working his butt off to get enough money to come up here and visit Minzi. And now that she's got an appartment of her own, she can house him without having to worry about roommates interrupting at inopportune times, eheh.

So yeah, agonizing/pining away over someone, learning to drive.....those are my biggest concerns right now, especially the former at this very second.

Today in skool, we also had fun in english ^.^ Why you ask? Well, that would be because, right now, more than halfway through the skool-yeer, we have recieved a brand-new, fresh-out-of-the-package enlish teacher! Woooooo. I actually was really fond of Ms. Warrington, our former english teacher. She left because she got a much better job offer, and she is getting married next year, and didn't want to be teaching when she begins to start a family and whatnot. So I can't really blame her. In fact, I'm really happy for her, unlike some of the students who are bitter about her leaving and have decided that they're going to react to it in the mature and rational way of bashing her into the Cinderblock of Criticism, until she is nothing more than a Former Teacher Grease Splotch (all hail Dave Barry!) -_-;;;; ANYWAY, back to today. We got to do that thing all teachers make you do at the begining of the year, wherein you write your name, address, phone #, and some other random info about yourself on an index card ^_^;; So yeah, it was a little trip down nostalgia lane =)

Well, I certainly haven't written in this thing in a long time ^^;;;;;

Today was pretty routine; I had animal science over lunch, but there was a "leak" in the real animal science room, so we had to spend the entire hour and a half period in some kind of computer room, which was nice because it was actually *carpeted*, and with all the computers in there, it was really toasty-warm ^_^ The rest of the school tends to be chilly most of the time, due to the fact that the walls are made of cinder blocks, and the floors are tiled.

Oh yeah. Over the weekend, my family went to have dinner with my grandparents. That went fairly routinely as well..... UNTILL the subject of Gay Marriage came up... Both my grandparents thought the idea was more or less dumb. Of course, Mindi and I, who perpetually feel the need to point out alternate ways of thinking whenever someone makes a judgement (usually of the moral variety) about something, began to rattle off some ideas justifying Gay Marriage. I was mildly suprised to find that my parents were also attempting this. Now, my grandmother actually seemed interested in *discussing* the issue, swapping ideas and whatnot. The conflict occured with my grandfather, who, although in my experience he's a perfectly kind individual, dug his feet in and didn't want to converse about it as much as he wanted to PREACH about it......-_-;;;;; He kept repeating how "the majority of the country is christian" and the "queers" are "living in sin" and so on and so forth..... Suffice to say, I was mildly irritated. Fortunately, Mindi and I seem to lack the ability to become truely livid over something more or less, and my mom and dad (who are well aware of my grandfather's temper and tendency to be stubbornly obstenate) also kept their cool, and the subject was soon dropped in favor of oohing and aahing over some angel food cake that we had for desert ^_^;;; My mother is of the opinion, however, that after we left, he most likely started up again to my grandmom.

So yeah, I had a rather busy weekend, what with that, and a classmate came over twice so I could help her with some math =D

We only got one branch and a whole crapload of leaves in our yard, it wasn't too bad overall ^_^. And I got to get out of school cuz of it, YAAYYYY! lol =)

And I finally, finally screwed up the courage to call Fik/Jace/Jik/Face (lol Jace if you're reading this, ask mindi ^^;;;) Mostly cuz we've had no power since early this morning, and it just came on at like 7:45 pm, and it is now 8:05 pm ^^;; I felt the need cuz I had no way to get to him by computer, so I figured "what the hey? it's as good a reason as any." ^_^

It's raining........ yep, it's raining >.<;;;

It's not suprising tho, considering we have a hurricane headed our way -_-;;;
My dad's kinda worried about it, and to tell the truth, so am I. I mean, the ground is already soaked and I dun think it can hold anymore water, and the REAL rain isn't supposed to start untill thursday..... so that's bad =(
On a more positive note tho, it may make us have the day off at school, which is always cool ^_^ The thing that really worries me is the animals, specifically the cats... they do go outdoors, and one of 'em is almost entirely an outdoor cat, so we'd have to bring him in, and we might even have to bring in the black and white kitty ( a stray, we're assuming) that's been staying in our garage for something-odd months. I'd feel really bad, having her have to go in and out of the garage in this downpour T_T

So anyway, other than the impending doom called massive rainage, nothing much interesting has happened lately ^^;;;;

I feel like drawinnnggggg...... lol

I had history over lunch today.... that's 1 and 1/2 hours of good ol' stuff that's happened already, heh ^^;;; Actually it wasn't at all bad, not like I was thinking it'd be.

However, today was ::shudder:: picture day... BLECH! I hate picture day, mostly because it's a pain to remember what time it is, and what time *you* have to be down there, and in addition to that, there are no clocks in the trailers, so any student who doesn't have a watch ( like me) is constantly asking others and/or the teacher what time it is >.<;;;;; Also, it was sooooo crowded down there. Typically pictures are pretty quick, like, 10 minutes or so. However, I was down there from about 1:05 pm to somewhere around 1:40-1:45ish..... lol, it's a good thing I took my books with me, I'd have hated to have had to leave them in history since my picture time overlapped the end of one class and the start of another. Mindi's calculator prolly woulda been stolen >.<

Anywho, after pictures, I wandered up to Ceramics, and got to get my hands all dirty and muddy w/ nice, skooshy clay =D hehe. That was nice after spending the whole day striving to keep clean and neat ^_^;;;

Mmm.... I think I'm gonna draw now ^_^
